
The National Television Academy Arts and Sciences (NATAS), San Francisco/ Northern California Chapter premieres its prestigious Gold Circle honoring four individuals who have spent 50 or more years making significant contributions to the television industry.
The honorees are Lucille Bliss (Lady of 1,000 voices), Jack La Lanne (Godfather of Physical Fitness), Elaine La Lanne (Befit Enterprises) and David Meblin (Mighty Minute Programs).
The members of the Academy submitted names and the inductees were voted upon by the Board of Governors.
In addition, six new members were inducted into the chapter's distinguished Silver Circle, recognizing individuals who have spent over 20 years making significant contributions to the industry.
The inductees include:
John Catchings (Catchings & Associates), Rosy Chu (KTVU), Wayne Freedman (KGO), Don McCuaig (KTVU), Barbara Rodgers (KPIX), and Bill Schechner (KPIX).
The Academy members also submitted names for this honor. From the submitted names, the Silver Circle committee selected a slate of 21 nominees.
Ballots were sent to 122 living members of the 159-member Silver Circle.
Inductees of the Gold and Silver circles receive an honorary life membership in the Academy.
